Bjelin Ambassador Retailer Certified Woodura Specialist BAY AREA  ·  SINCE 1999

Redeemed Flooring is a certified Bjelin Ambassador Retailer, one of a handful of Bay Area showrooms carrying the full Woodura waterproof real wood flooring line. That listing is earned, not bought. It means Bjelin has reviewed our installation standards and stands behind the work we do with their product.

The inventor behind the product

This Is Not a Startup. It Is 50 Years of Flooring Patents.

Darko Pervan is a Swedish-Croatian inventor and entrepreneur. He invented the world's first laminate floor. He developed the mechanical locking system that every floating floor on earth now uses. He founded Valinge Technology, whose 3,500 patents are licensed by over 300 factories worldwide. Then he built Bjelin and created Woodura. That is not a product launch. That is a career's worth of flooring science applied to one floor.

Honest product description

What Bjelin Woodura Is, and What It Is Not

We believe in telling you exactly what you are buying before you buy it. Knowing the honest limits of a product is what prevents an expensive regret later.

What it is

Real wood surface

Not a printed image, not a vinyl film. Actual European hardwood you can see the grain in and feel underfoot. That is what separates Woodura from LVP at the same price point.

Three times harder than standard oak

Bjelin Woodura's surface hardness rating handles pet claws, chair legs, and daily foot traffic without showing it. This is not a marketing number. It is a certified test result.

Waterproof at the joint and through the core

The 5G locking system creates a tight, watertight seal between each board. Spills and wet mopping stay on top, not underneath. Designed specifically for kitchens and active households.

Dimensionally stable in Bay Area conditions

The high-density core resists the expansion and contraction that Bay Area humidity cycles cause in traditional hardwood. Foggy mornings and warm afternoons do not move this floor.

European precision engineering

Bjelin has been making wood products in Sweden for decades. This is not a new category or a rebranded commodity. The core construction, locking system, and surface rating are specific to their process.

What it is not

Not flood-proof

Waterproof means it handles spills, wet mopping, and everyday household moisture. It is not designed for standing water, burst pipes, or subfloor flooding. That is a different situation entirely.

Not re-sandable

The wood surface is bonded permanently to the core. It cannot be sanded down and refinished like traditional hardwood. We say this upfront on every estimate because you deserve to know.

Not a budget floor

If you are comparing this to LVP on price alone, this is a different product category. Real wood costs more and gives more back over time in durability, feel, and home value. We will tell you if LVP is the better fit for your situation.

Not a vinyl substitute

Some sellers market waterproof hardwood alongside LVP as if they are equivalent. They are not. The surface, the feel underfoot, the home value contribution, and the long-term story are different products.

Our philosophy: Honest expectations prevent regret. We would rather lose a sale than set you up for disappointment. If Woodura is not the right product for your home, we will tell you during the estimate and point you in the right direction.
Local context matters

Why Bay Area Homes Need This Specifically

We install Bjelin Woodura waterproof hardwood across Contra Costa, Alameda, San Francisco, and Marin Counties. The conditions here create specific challenges that traditional hardwood handles poorly and most flooring products never address directly.

Marine layer and morning fog

Coastal moisture from the Bay moves inland regularly. Traditional solid hardwood expands in high humidity and contracts in dry afternoon heat. Woodura's high-density core is engineered to stay stable through those shifts without gapping or cupping.

Temperature swings between neighborhoods

A Concord home sees very different conditions than a home in Oakland or San Francisco. The inland valleys heat up significantly while coastal areas stay cool. Woodura handles that range without the movement stress that damages traditional hardwood over seasons.

Open-plan kitchens flowing into living spaces

Bay Area homes built in the last 30 years commonly open the kitchen into the main living area. Traditional hardwood makes homeowners nervous around the kitchen. Waterproof hardwood was designed for exactly this layout, so the floor can run through the whole space without a worry.

Pet and family households

We install more Bjelin Woodura in homes with dogs than any other situation. The surface hardness handles claws, the waterproof joint handles accidents, and it still reads and feels like real wood. No other product at this price point combines all three.

How we do it

Our Proven Installation Process

Flooring fails when shortcuts are taken. Bjelin Woodura requires flat, dry, structurally sound conditions to perform the way it was designed. Here is how we make sure those conditions exist on every job.

In-home evaluation, before anything is ordered

We come to your space, walk the subfloor, and assess conditions. Bjelin Woodura requires a flat, dry subfloor. We find problems at this stage, not after your new floor is already down. We also bring curated samples so you can compare colors in your actual lighting, next to your cabinets and walls. That one step prevents most flooring regrets.

Subfloor assessment, the step most installers skip

Once the existing floor is removed, we assess the exposed subfloor for flatness, moisture levels, and anything that could affect how your new floor performs. Any prep work the subfloor actually needs gets scoped and quoted clearly before we proceed. Nothing gets added to your bill mid-project without your approval.

Acclimation, the waiting that protects your investment

We bring the Bjelin Woodura product into your space before installation begins and let it acclimate to your home's temperature and humidity. This reduces the risk of any movement after the floor is set. It takes time. It is not optional.

Precision installation, tight tolerances, no shortcuts

Bjelin Woodura's 5G locking system requires tight tolerances and deliberate technique. Our crew has installed it across the Bay Area on concrete slabs, plywood subfloors, and everything between. Expansion gaps, transitions, and edge cuts are calculated and executed with precision.

Final walkthrough, we review every seam with you

Before we close the project, we walk every seam, every transition, and every edge with you. If we missed anything, we fix it on that visit. We do not close jobs with open items. If we install it, we stand behind it.

No subcontractors. The crew that shows up to your home works for Redeemed Flooring. When you call us with a question six months after the job, we still answer.
Honest fit guidance

Who It Is Right For, and Who Should Choose Something Else

We say this clearly on every estimate. Knowing when a product is not right for a homeowner is what earns trust. Here is our honest read.

Bjelin Woodura fits you if...
  • You want real wood but have pets, kids, or a kitchen that gets real use every day
  • You have tried other floors that looked right but fell short over time
  • Your kitchen and living space are open-plan and you want the floor to run through both
  • Long-term home value and authentic wood appearance both matter to you
  • You want a floor that holds up to wet mopping and monthly deep cleaning without worry
  • You have radiant heat. Bjelin Woodura is compatible with radiant heating systems.
  • You are tired of floors that look great in photos but feel hollow or cheap underfoot
Choose something else if...
Your priority is the lowest possible price per square foot.
LVP We will say so honestly on the estimate.
You plan to sand and refinish your floors every decade as part of ongoing maintenance.
Hardwood Thicker veneer, more refinish life.
You have active water coming up through the slab. That is a foundation moisture problem, not a flooring question.
Call remediation first. Fix the source. Then call us for the floor.

Colors look different in your home. Showroom lighting, your paint, your cabinets, and your natural light all change how a floor reads. We bring samples directly to your space so you compare them where they will actually live. That is the only way to make this decision well.
Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions Bay Area homeowners ask us most often about Bjelin Woodura waterproof hardwood installation.

Yes. Bjelin Woodura is built with two layers of moisture protection. First, the 5G locking system creates a tight, watertight seal between each board, preventing everyday spills from seeping into the joints. Second, the surface has a waterproof and scratch-resistant protective layer that handles wet mopping, pet accidents, and high-traffic daily wear. It is not designed for standing water or subfloor flooding. But for every realistic household scenario, spills, mopping, pets, kids, it holds.
Better than any traditional hardwood option we carry. Bjelin Woodura's high-density core is engineered to resist the dimensional movement that Bay Area humidity cycles cause in solid and standard engineered hardwood. Foggy mornings, dry inland afternoons, coastal moisture... this floor is designed to stay stable through those shifts. We have installed it in Contra Costa, Alameda, San Francisco, and Marin Counties with far fewer climate-related issues than traditional hardwood in the same conditions.
Yes. Kitchens are one of the most common rooms we install Bjelin Woodura in. The waterproof joint system and the high surface hardness rating make it a strong choice for kitchens that flow into living spaces. Traditional hardwood makes homeowners nervous near kitchen islands and sink areas. Woodura removes that worry. We have completed many Bay Area kitchen installs with Woodura running continuously from the kitchen through the dining room and living area.
Bjelin is a Swedish manufacturer with decades of precision wood engineering. Bjelin Woodura is not a rebranded commodity product. The 5G locking system, the core density, and the surface hardness rating are specific to their manufacturing process. We have tested other waterproof hardwood products and Woodura is the one we stand behind. We import directly and have been working with Bjelin long enough to know how the product performs after installation in real Bay Area homes, not just on install day.
Most Bjelin Woodura projects take three to five days depending on square footage, the complexity of the layout, and the condition of the subfloor. We give you a realistic timeline during the in-home estimate before anything is scheduled. Subfloor issues, moisture, flatness problems, demo surprises, can add a day. We flag those honestly at the estimate rather than surprising you mid-project.
Yes. Real wood flooring, including Bjelin Woodura waterproof hardwood, is consistently listed by real estate professionals as a value-adding feature in Bay Area homes. Unlike LVP, which buyers recognize as a synthetic material, real wood floors contribute to the authentic character of a home at appraisal and at sale. The exact value depends on the rest of the home and the market at the time of sale, but we have not spoken with a Bay Area real estate professional who puts waterproof hardwood below LVP in terms of buyer perception or appraised value.
