Hardwood Floor Installation San Francisco CA
San Francisco homes have been earned. The floors inside them should reflect that. Get a Free EstimateSan Francisco homes range from Victorian flats with original fir floors to modern condos with concrete slab and HOA noise requirements. We have been working in San Francisco since 1999, in Noe Valley, the Sunset, the Mission, and the Richmond. The most important thing we learned early is that no two SF homes are the same, and the floor has to fit the specific building, not just the specific taste.
What We Install in San Francisco
Hardwood Installation
Solid and engineered hardwood imported directly since 1999. Many San Francisco homes have original fir or oak floors worth preserving. We assess whether refinishing or replacement makes more sense before recommending anything.
LVP
Waterproof and dimensionally stable. For SF condos and flats where moisture management and sound transmission both matter, we specify underlayment that addresses both.
Waterproof Hardwood
Real wood surface with moisture-resistant construction. A strong choice for SF kitchens and bathrooms where real wood character matters but the marine climate demands better moisture performance than standard hardwood.
Sanding and Refinishing
Many SF Victorians and Edwardians have original fir floors with significant wear layer remaining. We check before we quote and recommend refinishing whenever the floor qualifies.
Why San Francisco Homeowners Choose Redeemed Flooring

Recent Work in San Francisco

βI would recommend Redeemed Hardwood to anyone shopping for new flooring. They have a great selection with extremely competitive prices. Rudy and Andre were extremely helpful and nice to work with. After a long search making many trips to many different flooring stores, I'm glad I found and went with Redeemed.βScott W., San Francisco |
Common Questions from San Francisco Homeowners
Do you work in San Francisco condos with HOA noise requirements?
Yes. Many SF condo buildings require IIC and STC ratings for flooring underlayment. We know which underlayment products meet common HOA requirements and specify them in our proposals. If your building has specific documentation requirements, let us know during the estimate and we will confirm the product meets the spec before anything is installed.
Can you refinish the original fir floors in my San Francisco Victorian?
Often yes. Original fir floors in SF Victorians and Edwardians are frequently in better condition than they look. The wood is old-growth fir, denser and tighter-grained than anything milled today. We check the remaining wear layer and assess for structural issues before quoting. When the floor qualifies, refinishing preserves something that cannot be replaced.
What flooring works best in San Francisco's climate?
SF's marine climate is relatively mild and consistent, which is favorable for hardwood. The humidity is higher than inland Contra Costa but stable year-round rather than swinging between extremes. Engineered hardwood performs well throughout the city. For below-grade rooms or spaces with moisture exposure, waterproof hardwood or LVP is the more appropriate choice.
What does flooring installation cost in San Francisco?
LVP runs $7 to $9 per square foot for materials and installation. Waterproof hardwood runs $9 to $15. Traditional hardwood runs $12 to $20 depending on species and grade. Refinishing runs $7 to $8 per square foot. Removal, subfloor leveling, baseboards, and transitions are quoted separately.
How long does installation take?
Most whole-home installs take two to four days. Hardwood requires acclimation time before installation begins, which we build into the schedule upfront.
The wrong floor in a San Francisco home is an expensive mistake in a market where every detail is noticed.
The right floor, chosen for your building's specific conditions and installed correctly, holds its value as long as the home does.
